The keel hoist line on my Hunter 20 snapped. You wouldn't believe the trouble we had getting it back on the trailer with the keel dangling free! Anyway, has anyone replaced the hoist line on this particular model? We decided to take it to a boat yard since they said the easy fix (easy for someone who has a way to get the boat up off the trailer so the keel can drop down) would cost little. But when we got the boat to the boatyard, they said that the entire keel would have to be removed to access the point where the hoist line attaches to the keel. Somehow, we can't imagine that the access to something so likely to need periodic replacement would require dismantling of a major structure of the boat. Also, he was not sure that he would be able to install a steel cable in place of the rope that was there originally. I would really love to hear how anyone has managed this repair before we attempt to take the boat to a do-it-yourself boatyard.
