I recently purchased a 1990 Capri 18 without the wing keel. I would like to hear from other owners about the performance/ stability of the boat without the wing keel option.
RP, Sorry but I have to ask - Does your boat have a keel at all?
Assuming your boat has a fin keel, it will point better and be more stable than the same boat with a wing keel. It will also be more dificult to put on the trailer. However, once on the trailer the rear view mirrors on your tow vehicle will work better because you are looking under the boat. A sailing buddy has a Capri 22 with the fin keel, it sail really well!
It does have a straight keel, but I am not sure if it is considered a fin keel on this boat or a stub keel and some other owner has referred to when describing his boat's keel. I am not familar with the term stub keel.
