Keel crack opinion

I'm hoping the forum can help. This is a pic of our keel. The keelbolts have no sign of rust. So, what would one advise? We are thinking grinding it down, filling with epoxy, sanding it, and then a new bottom coat. I'm worried though that there is evidence that there may be water penetration because of the rust stains.... Is the epoxy job something we can do? What about launching anyway, I suspect that this would lead to longer term damage. Thanks in advance for your perspectives. Also is this something to be really worried about, or just fix it and move on?

Think you are okay as planned. This is common for these joints. But you really should have a barrier coat prior to bottom paint.

Fix it and move on...
-cut away the loose fiberglass not attached to the hull or keel, sand then epoxy seal the exposed hull or keel, fair the surface with West system, and paint...
Well, that's what I did any way.

I agree....

We had the same problem 5 years ago on our Passage 42. We did what you're planning to do and haven't seen any evidence of it happening again.
