The only place I know of that you can get one is from Steve Birch in the UK, or have one custom made locally. They may be made out of something like Tufnol. Tg

I would think that if it is meant to stop water, you would want pipe thread. But, i dont know the technical details of making a male-female pipe thread pair."joseph mendiola jam9991@... [AlbinVega]" AlbinVega@yahoogroups.com wrote:

I am an old machinist, I would say if you give a machineshop the
thread sise and tell them you want a pipe plug. They can look it up
in the machinst manual get all the information and make you one.
With taper or straight based on thread size. Doug

If you live in a cold climate and take your boat out of the water
there is a chance of ice in the bilge from rain leakage, Removing
the plug lets the water out. Doug

Greetings folks,

I recently pulled out and saw that the plug was eroded so I replace it with a nice new bronze fitting that is bolted in and screw capped.  I found the plug useful during the haul out as rain leaked into the boat via various open things during the overhaul
and it drained down into the bilge and thus right back out onto the hard….  So it does have some utility.
