Hi

I had exactly the same situation a year ago. I couldn't find a plug to fit the hole in my new boat so I ground out the old fitting and epoxied in a new receiver fitting which I had bought and which came with the plug to fit, which has a coarse thread. It's called a garboard plug in North America. I was glad the plug had been left out of my boat, which had been on the hard and leaking rain and snow in for a decade.

YvonFind the side of the thread in the fitting on your keel and buy a new fitting the same size - they come in different sizes. Use the plug from the new fitting on the old fitting on the boat and you will have both a spare fitting and have to do less work.
Different sizes available here and at any good marine store: Garboard Drain Plugs

YvonIf it doesn't work out any marine store in your area should have a complete unit - they are very common. We sell them in multiple sizes in Victoria.

Yvon,

I didn't know there's another Vega so close. Mine is presently in Kingston and in a couple of weeks we'll be sailing it to Toronto. My mom lives in Brighton (Ontario). Feel free to send a message to my email address. Maybe we can meet.

Marine Outfitters in Kingston have garboard plugs, or the kit with the plug and receiver to be epoxied in, and will ship.

My Mistake, the postage for priority mail is $19.50. I would need US$ 40.00 to cover my cost. OK? Ronnie MagnussonCell 203-395-0670Work 203-881-2600Fax 203-881-2644Skype ronniemagnusson On Thursday, May 1, 2014 4:13 PM, Ronnie Magnusson ronmagnusson@... wrote:
