Keel Bolts

We often see people requesting information regarding their "leaky" keel bolts. I have not read much regarding the maintenance of keel bolts in the past on this forum, standard manuals or magazines. Is it a good idea to obtain the torque settings and tightening pattern for our boats and to check them periodically, even in the absence of apparent leaking? If so, how often would one do this? Once a season? Every few years? Your posts would be appreciated. We don't have leaking, but I don't really want to wait for a problem to address it. Doug

Have not read any recommendations but. . .

I check every Spring before launch. Went to Sears Hardware and bought the deep-socket, 1 1/16th I think. Don't have a torque wrench, just make certain I cannot turn with standard 1/2" drive. And I do the same with the strut bolts.
