Was wondering if forward keel bolt can be replaced if the boat is not hauled out.Mine is slowly leaking and allowing water to fill my bilge and was wanting to know if this can be an easy, quick fix with the right tools and materials.I have a new bilge pump installed and it currently runs about ever hour.Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

yes and no

you can replace the bolts in the water but that, in itself, is unlikely to stop the leak unless you haul and properly reseal the keel stub

Leak Fixed?

So did tightening the bolt solve your leak? I have water coming in slowly and have no idea of what could be the leak. The bilge pump keeps up with the water but I hate to be at the mercy of a pump. Norse

Bolts good, Packing gland bad

Upon further inspection of keel bolts it appears this is not the problem. My packing gland seems to be leaking more than should be at sea while engine is running.I know it sopposed to leak about 1-2 drops every 8-10 seconds but this one leaks far worse than that.Even after shutting down the engine it continues to leak for 1-2 hours after and then it finally stops. The bilge pump has to work overtime for a bit after shut down and mooring but after a few hours water does not enter my bilge sump.So i have repacked the gland and will get the boat out for a little test this weekend. Thanks
