Could someone give me an idea the cost to replace old keel boats with stainless steel bolts. I am thinking of purchasing a 1977 Catalina 30 that still has original bolts. Should I be concerned
You shouldn't be too concerned until a surveyor says they're bad. They may be slightly rusty but they shouldn't be so corroded as to cause a problem. But let a surveyor tell you before you buy new SS bolts!! LaDonna
They should already be stainless but to save money catalina used standard washers. Thats normaly the source of the rust. Simple test!!! use a small magnet to test the material. Stainless is none magnetic. Walla
