Keel bolts

I tried checking the keel bolts on my '74 C-22. I think the bolt has a 9/16 head, but I was unable to get a socket onto the head of the bolt. The recessed area was too small for the socket. I am wondering if others have had this problem, or if there is a solution I am not seeing. Thanks.

Thin-Walled Socket

Mine are the same. It takes a thin-walled socket. I purchased one at an auto supply store. Dick
