Keel Bolts Revisited

Dear Sailors, Since I got such a good response to my keel bolt question I wanted to revisit the issue of keel bolts. The boat we are looking at is a 1979 catalina 27 with the short keel. Though the crack is by far not as substantial as in the Catalina Smile picture in the photogallery I do wish to chnage the bolts. Here my questions. How are the bolts secured in the keel? (Lagbolted or threated into the lead?) Is there a place where I can order stainless steel bolts? Is it a smart idea to put more bolts through the bilge in the keel? And lastly, is a blueprint plan available for the Catalina 27. (showning components, what materials were used ect.) Thanks a million Justus

Call Catalina

I think someone else suggested contacting Catalina directly about the keel bolt replacement. They have a kit they can sell you and a wealth of knowledge on the questions you asked. It's always good to get the info from the horse's mouth. LaDonna
