My Oday draws 3 feet with a lead winged keel and a rudder that is external to the stern. At low tide the keel and rudder rests in soft mud with about one foot of water. Am I doing damage to the boat ? Thank you for your help.

I gotta believe that this will do some damage to that rudder. I think that boat is too heavy to allow the rudder to support any of the boat's weight. Maybe you could get a mooring in Waquoit Bay where there's a quite a bit more water at low tide.

A couple of risks involved here...
Any rocking of the boat has the potential to bend the keel or one/both of the wings. A good blow could also rip the gudgeons out of the stern and damage the steering linkage and rudder. All extremely expensive repairs. You also have to remember that at times, under normal conditions, your rudder may bottom out before the keel. I'd highly recommend finding new digs (no pun intended) Cheers, Bob
