I think they were trashed.
I have seen literally thousands of boats salvaged from Katrina, but other than locals hunting for parts and stripping boats in the marrsh areas, I havent seen anyone salvaging parts. Loose items hanging around were thrown on the deck of any boat at random before the auctions.If you think about it, it would be too expensive for anyone to go there just for parts. Start off with no place to stay, if they brought their own RV, there was still no gas or electric at first. If you got through all of that...whats your time worth?. And then, if you bid on the salvaged boats and stripped them, you were still responsible for removing the boat from its location. That in itself could cost more than all of the parts are worth. This is just my own theory because like many others, I too asked myself.....where are all the salvaged parts?
