No. That is why there are several. Forecasters have gotten really good at forecasting tracks but they use 'em all. to generate the cone.

Only one I ever bother looking at is the official one put out by the National Hurricane Center arm of NOAA. It's the one the others are based on.

IMHO

Don't trust any of them very much. They are all just educated guesses. I would certainly hold off re splashing the boat for a few more days.

Some wiseacre said that everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it. With Irene if it had not been for the news I would have just thought it another rainy weekend. We were barely inconvienced.

I went to a seminar where the experts from NOAA and the National Hurricane Center spoke. They all say that their accuracy is about 3 days out. Anything beyond that is an educated guess.

When I lived in Biloxi I knew several of the guys who flew with the Air Force Reserves Huricane Hunters. They said the same thing about three days after that if they say they know where it is going after that someone is lying to you.

So now we have Lee on the Gulf Coast.. Again very bad model agreement.. Lots of folks in the marina scurrying around securing stuff.. I left with my boat in the high water and stiff wind mode but not in hurricane tie-off. Biggest problem is that it is forecast to rain out my Sunday BBQ..
