A recent product was shown to me by a Catalina 47 owner. The product is Orange TKO d'Limonene. The product advertizes itself as odor eliminating and the 47 owner swears by it. I have seen KO advertized in the articles and am wondering if there is a connection between the products, since they are used for the same reason eg: odor removal. Thanks Gary

K.O. Kills Odor is a bio-active holding tank treatment--live bacteria in a nutrient broth--that "eats" odor causing bacteria. I've never heard of Orange TKO d'Lemonine...The name sounds like it may be a citrus based product. Citrus products are degreasers, so they're used in cleaning products. When anything is used to clean that removes the source of any odor, you get rid of the odor. They're sometimes used in air freshening products too...but while just freshening the air can last for a while, till you get rid of the source of the odor, you have to refreshen the air periodically. K.O. destroys organically caused odors...in holding tanks, musty lockers, cushions etc. It won't do a thing for odors like smoke or diesel, 'cuz they're not caused by "critters." But it does the best job of any products I've ever seen of getting rid of odors that are.
