thank you! I have a ton of things to learn and I really do appreciate the help. I may have to bring the boat to Seward Alaska, 3 hour drive, and ask for help there. I suppose that it will need to be slung and put on blocks (very expensive, from there I will try to power wash the debri build up from the centerboard slot and hope that it falls down. If you have any pointers I could use them soon. I will be on my own with very little opportunity to recieve help. How long should I anticipate this job will take me? What should I do if things do not look right? What should it look like. Sincerly, Clueless or David

I'll pick David

Its hard to tell how long the job is going to take. It shouldn't take more than ten minutes to jack it up, and to let it back down. How long it takes to clean the centerboard trunk out depends on what you find under there. You may find that you can just pull the board down and wash it out once you have access. That's best case. Be careful if you use tools that you don't damage the board or the centerboard trunk. Use the pressure washer carefully or you may jam stuff in there worse. If you can't pull it out and the wash doesn't work, you have a bigger problem, but its pretty unlikely. After you wash the boat, let it dry. This is going to take some time but it will ultimately be worth it. Then paint the inside of the centerboard trunk with a water based ablative paint. Use waterbased even if it takes you a while to find it so that if there is any water left in the trunk when you paint you don't have a problem. This doesn't mean it should feel wet, but if there is a void up there you'll be ok. If you use a modified epoxy bottom paint and you hit water you'll have problems. You'll then want to let the paint dry to the touch before you crank the board back in. If you can wait overnight, you decrease the risk of sticking the board in with the paint. While the board is down, paint it too. Then launch and lover her. Let me know if you need any more detail; always happy to help. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Justin Re: Centerboard/ 25

Justin, When you say it should only take ten minutes to jack the boat up, how do you sugest I do this. I am having difficulty visualizing how this works. The boat is currently on a trailer and I don't see how I will have enough room to work on the centerboard. You are a great help and I thank you for your time. I can hardly wait until the boat gets wet. Thank you very much! David
