As some of you know I have a 1989 cat22 with wing keel. I read in the manuel that the wing keel is 650 lbs. and some where I read that the keel is steel. Yesterday when putting the boat back on the trailer the wind pushed it just a little off and hit the keel. when I got it out of the water I looked it over well and saw that the keel had a few "dings" and I am sure that the keel is lead. So I spent a long time on the internet to find some specs. I found some where on a catalina site that the wing keel is an 800 lb keel. But no where did I see the type of metal used. Does anyone know where I can find the REAL data on this 1989 cat22 ??? Thank you all Alan

I believe that the wing keel currently is lead inside a fiberglass jacket. I'm not sure that this was the case in 1989 though....Earlier brochures list the wing keel as 650lbs which is 100lbs more than the cast iron swing keel.
