The boat is currently in dry dock in Palisades, Maryland (outside Annapolis). I'm looking for a good, reliable and honest desielmechanic and electrical mechanic. Does anyone have an recommendations and how to get in touch with them. I'm also looking for a detailer. Does anyone have an owners manual for an O'Day 37? Electrical diagram would be extremely helpful. I'm thinking about adding a 3 blade feathering prop or one of the new retractable type propellers. Has anyone done this to their boat & could you give me any pros, cons, concerns, recommendations. Has anyone added a nav pod station to their binicle? Has added a genarator? If so, where did you put it? I'm also going to be adding radar and air conditioning. Does anyone have any recommendations on makes or models and where to purchase them? How does the boat handle? Our sailing area will be the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay.

O'37

I've only sailed this boat once on the Florida Gulf. Nice boat. Seems to handle well. The only thing I didn't like was the deck width at the shrouds is to narrow to allow you to go forward very easily. The boat I sailed did have a Nav Pod installed, but it was a while ago and I don't remember details. Since I don't own this boat, can't give much advise on the other items. Russ

Might Be Able to Help You

Did you buy the '37 in Pasaadena, Md? If so I might have viewed that one and may be able to give you some info on it. I have all the original manuals for the '37 center cockpit and know a lot about diesels and boat restoration. Ron email sabadashr@ns.sympatico.ca

O-37 Max-prop

Practical Sailor did a review of the 37 a couple of years ago. You can call them for a reprint or fax. Its was a favorable review. I added a 2Blade Max to my O35, and it was money well spent. The sailing performance was very noticable as well as docking situations,I lost 2oorpm on top end power going fwrd, the gain in reverse was dramatic. You will probally gain in forward if your going from a 2 blade to a 3blade.Do it you will be Very happy you did.As far as radar is concerned, both Raytheon & Furuno are great units, If you get a 2kw unit with at least a 7-8" screen you will be satisfied.Defender usually has the best prices, others will match.Good luck.
