Check the hole (it's called a "through-hull"). If it's plastic you might want to have someone look at it just to make sure it hasn't become brittle. A cracked through-hull under water will let water into the boat and...While you're at it, check the condition of the hose conecting it to the cockpit drain. The same could happen if the hose is brittle or cracked. This is probably worse because rainwater in the cockpit will leak out the hose and collect in the hull rather than going overboard through the drain.There are probably two other through-hulls on the boat. One should be near the bow (it's for the anchor locker drain) and the other should be near midships for the sink drain. Under normal conditions, both are above the water line, but if the boat is heeled, the sink drain can be submerged.
