Spinnakers have an aura of mystery to them. Why spoil it with clear instructions.

DK. On a calm day spread the sail out on your fore deck. You will have a head (top of the sail - think of the sail as an isosceles triangle. The head is pointy end. ) it is going to get hauled up to the top of the mast with the spinnaker halyard. Sail is going to float out in front of the forestay (wire running from mast to bow of boat) so the halyard is the one that runs out a block on the front of the mast. It is also the halyard block that is above the jib halyard block. If no spinnaker halyard you can not haul sail up the mast.

Attach sail and haul it up using yhe dpinnaker halyard. You chose a calm day - no wind - so you can raise sail and it will hang limp. Even a light breeze will grab the sail and make a mess.

Once up you will find the two bottoms (port clew and starboard clew). You will need to have lines connected to them if you are going to control this thing. Tie on lines (sheets) to the clews. Run the lines back to a turning block near the transom, one for each side if the boat. The sail is going to set out in front of the bow so the lines need to be outside of all the wire stays holding the mast in place.

You have now raised a spinnaker and run the control lines. Is this the info you wanted? Your not finished but well started. PM me and we can talk more.

Do you have an asymmetric or symmetric spinnaker? An asymm is more like a normal jib in that it has a tack that is attached to the foredeck somewhere or maybe to an extendable sprit (I don't know your boat), and a clew. A symmetric has two "equal" lower corners, one of which becomes the tack and the other the clew depending on what tack you are on. You would (should) have a spinn. pole if you have a symm spinn.

I do see one photo of a 216 with a spinnaker in the owner photos section. Does not help to show rigging, but that one looks like an asymm to me - see if yours is like that. I don't see any spinn pole in that pic.

I found this photo - looks to me like an asymm tacked to a bowsprit?

Ahhh the reason Joe said you need learn the language.... Thank you Isaksp00. A spinnaker and an asymmetrical spinnaker are two different animals.

Hi DK, you'll love her after you get her rigged and sorted out!
You should be able to download the 216 manual from the Marlowe-Hunter website or PM me with your email address and I can send you a PDF. a non-gmail address is best since they limit file sizes
I'll try to attach the pdf;if it is too big, this and much more on the Marlowe-Hunter site under models/previous models. look under manuals and misc and vendors and model-information.
the spinnaker kit is attached, the manual is too big to up load in one piece - and it doesn't include the spin data

installation instructions. If you don't have the sprit and rigging kit installed, look at the directions for the halyard block location on the mast and install a block there, run a halyard down the outside of the mast to a cleat near the cabin top. The asymetric chute flies between the halyard and a fitting on the end of the sprit, you'll have to rig something on the bow forward of the jib furler to attach the sail to(usually a block with a line run aft to the cockpit so you can release the sail and pull it aboard). the aft end of the sail has two sheets attached to it, all outside of the stays (when the sail is flying, the windward sheet is idle and goes outside the forestay and the windward shroud)

Beside chuckwayne who is a great source of information here on the 216, ask for Al at the SBO site store as he might remember the kit that was offered by Hunter at one point.
