Wow, can't believe I have been here since 2004. 15 years is a long running forum and probably one for the history books. You have to give Phil and all credit for what they have done here and put together.

I have met quite a few people over the years through here. I have received great advice and help and, hopefully, passes some on as well. This is a very unique community because sailors are different. No matter what you don't have in common, you have so much in common. I haven't seen many communities as quick to help a stranger who quickly becomes a friend.

So I have been sailboatless since I sold Saga two years ago. Seems like forever. The boat was sold when I knew that my wife and I were having a baby and I knew that I couldn't take care of Saga the way she deserved to be treated. She would go neglected as the duties of work and being a new parent would not allow much else. Saga was the temporary replacement when finances forced me to sell my beloved Catalina 30, Spirit of Liberty.

Sadly, I have no idea when I will get another sailboat. This really kicks me in the butt from time to time and I think of the cruises and the memories. I am hoping that things will allow for another sailboat in a few years. Still, I constantly look at adds and daydream. I know that my return will be extremely low-budget as I also have a lot of other responsibilities and also a wife that is not that understanding when it comes to the dream.

Anyway, I am getting a long and doing well. My daughter is now 17 months and doing well. Good news is that she seems to love the water (one of the few kids that throws a fit when you take her out of the bath tub). I am still around and though you may not see me as much I still check on you all. I am still plotting and scheming, but mainly dreaming, on my return to cruising.

I think a nice trailerable might be the ticket. Something with a small cabin you can take your wife and daughter out in safely. Lots less overhead and, if you live close to a body of water, easy enough to pop it in, go sailing for a bit and pull it back home.

Just a thought. I've had great sailing on some small trailerable boats. I have one in my backyard right now that hasn't been used in a few years... I should sell it... But it's such a nice little boat and heck, it doesn't cost me a thing hanging out in my back yard... I keep thinking I'll take down to the George Washington bridge and do a sail around Manhattan before I get rid of it... All kinds of excuses to keep it...I digress...

I guess I'm trying to say, with a young child and lots of obligations, a nice trailerable sailboat might be just the ticket to keep you sailing...

My last boat was a Compac 23. She was more than capable BUT she didn't fit my cruising style. No standing head room, no separate head, and other issues were part of me selling her.

Who knows, the standing headroom may be negoatable, but the separate head isn't. Been there, done that. We will see if budget allows something in the near future.

Good to see you. Actually TSBB- the Trailer Sailor BB has been running since May, 1996. But it would have died but for Phil. Getting a smaller boat, with new kids can be a dilemma- good luck

I have always been around, just not as active.

I have a friend with a Catalina 30 that was only 8 hull numbers newer than my old one. I think I may have to go for a cruise with him this spring because the withdraws are definitely there.

Did the Compac thing. Great boat, just not a good fit.
Here was my decked out Compac 23. She sailed really well. Just a bit small.

Dave, sent you a PM. Ironic because I was thinking of you just the other day.

Good to hear from you all. Know that I do lurk from time to time and while I may not post as much I am still around.

Oh, for those of you that remember Java (Jim Seamans, a.k.a. Java Jim) I will let you know that his wife lives in the same development as my in-laws. She is doing well. Really good people and those of us who knew Jim miss him to this day. He was a member here and an incredible person/sailor.
