All you sailors up there in the frozen tundra who have your boats out of the water for the winter. It is going to be close to 80 degrees here this weekend, the bouy 64 miles off Dauphin island shows the water temp at 75. Guess what I am going to be doing this weekend.

I'd feel bad, but

I'd feel bad, but, we have a week booked in Mexico at a resort with sailboats. At least I will get to see some water that is not "knock-knock" this winter. OC

Sigh

I am missing the the boat already, but I go down and visit her weather permitting. I also am looking forward to my week in the BVI next month.

what time are we leaving the ...

dock...we'll join you! With 18 inches of fresh snow received 2 days ago, I guess we are not sailing anytime soon. Thanks for the torture though, making the sailing trip to Bahamas in Febuary almost too far to bare... Oh well got to go, more shovelling to do. Of course, Nice n Easy would not know a thing about the pleasure of being up to your knees in snow at -10F moving tons of the white stuff from one place to another just to get out of your house. Club Med reinvented. Happy sailing! GG Emilie-Jolie C30TRBS #4708

This is the time to ski

all I do sailing is get fatter. I really like to ski. My boat is resting. The hull is drying out. It is covered so the sun doesn't beat her up. I'll get the hull waxed and the bottom painted real good. Alright, I am still jealous! :(

Thanks for what?

I agree with the fleas in your bedsack. You really need to take up skiing. If I didn't have to work to pay for sailing I would be at your boat tomorrow. Have a good sail. Ken

N&E Did you go out this past Sunday?

Did y'all have the fog we had. We had never seen anything like it. Now I know why people get all freaked out by fog.

Look at the bright side. Phil has to go to the

gym to get any exercize all we need is a snow shovel. Phil probably never thought to put snow and shovel into the same sentence. For the hardy ones up north when the lakes freeze there is ice boat sailing. If all of that isn't enough we have time to read without being troubled by folks asking if we have been sailing lately. ;D

My DN is ready to go. Just waiting for the lake to freeze over( has awhile yet, usually in mid Jan.) Also my Luge sled is ready for the track. Any body else got the guts out there for that? Lugeman P.S. Luge is a double workout....first we have to shovel the snow out of the track....the carry the sled ( 60 pounds ) up 143 stairs to the top.

Lugeman, THAT is a lot of work for 20 seconds of

thrilling ride. I grew up on a gravel road in Connecticut and the cars would pack the snow to ice and the town didn't sand the road (you just put chains on ). We had about a half mile down hill curvy run and a quarter mile flat at the bottom. If a car came you steered into the ditch. About a half dozen rides was enough to fill in the afternoon.

Sperm Whale watching?????

Nice and Easy I've read that there is a pod of several hundred sperm whales that frequent the deep water south of Mobile and New Orleans. They feed on squid where the ocean gets a few thousand feet deep. Have you ever seen one??? It may be a little farther south and west of where you are going but I would imagine that the whales move around hundreds of miles searching for food. We actually saw three false killer whales in less than 50' of water just outside the jetties at Panama City a couple of years ago. How long are you staying out??? Want some company??? I live near Birmingham but would be willing to drive down some weekend to go whale watching. Unfortunately our boat is now up on the Tennessee river. But we will be moving it back to the coast within the next two years.

That is wrong!

Just rub it in. That is definately a low blow to us that have to deal with winter. I had to qualify at the range yesterday (the latest that we have gone to the range) and it was snowing. We only got a few inches of snow but that is an early snow for Virginia, at least for the present standards). Oh well, I have plenty of venison in my freezer. I will really go crazy when hunting season is done.
