OK , So I used to live on a sailboat in my youth, having moved from Long Island where I was sailing from the age of 14. In my twenties, I bought an oday 27 and then a Catalina 30 living on it in San Diego. Best days of my life. Well, I am 42 now and needing that young feeling again. I have been spending the past 20 years powerboating on the river in AZ making the 3 hour drive. However I felt it was time to get back to my roots. So I came across this Catalina 27 that was screaming "buy me" and take care of me. So without hesitation, bam - 2K later I am the proud owner. It came with a new mariner outboard and had rollerfurling, so... right off the bat I was ahead of the game. I must say having boats with inboards and dealing witht he hassels that come along with that that this outboard in the rear well was a great way to go. Reminded me of my Sparkman Stevens Seafarer I used to have as a kid. Upon purchase my immediate project was to buff out the faded hull. I must say this website gave me great direction in doing the process with fantastic results. I used 3M imperial compound followed by 1 coat of "Finess It" then finsihed with 2 coats of "Scotch Guard" liquid wax. The end was a hull looking brand new. Thanks to everyone on here and their posts!!! (photos are on my site) Whew!! Onto the next stage. Some immediate issues that must be dealt with: 1. need to replace the through hull fittings, they are the originals and seeping, Hauling out in November for bottom paint and will do that project then. Then on to changing the manual sinks to pressured. Has anyone ever taken the storage under the steps and placed a refirgerator there permanently?
