Hunter 36 Punta Gorda
Left Jensen beach down ICW for Jupitar and than Lake Worth and sail over to Bahamas and out Lake Worth about 10 miles out the wind died and Yanmar kicked in or about an hour or 2 when the engine made a big clanking noise and shut down than tried again but noise was too loud switched back to sail and called for Sea Tow back to Florida.
Further checking of engine at dock led to find out a connecting rod let go.
The plan was to have the wives meet us at Harbor Island and rent beach house which we did,met the wives in airport and fly over to spend a wonderful week on the Island and went fishing snorkling spear fish,so all was not lost, try again to sail my H-36 maybe next year.

Very lay back

Harbor Island very nice 3 miles long 1 mile wide and everyone rides around on gulf carts and food and restaurants more $$$$ than on Nassua and other bigger Islands yes Bahama's is more $$$ for water and food but Harbor Island is even more, must hunt or deals and barter real hard.

Connecting rod let go (?)...ouch, hope there was plenty of oil in the engine and that your warranty claim goes smoothly. Really sad way to end a trip to Bahamas. Spent a week on Great Exuma, March '09 and really enjoyed it.

Rebuilt

It was my friends boat and owns it about two years and was told the engine was rebuit 1 year before he purchased it and will be going to contact the rebuilder.
He did make the trip to bahama's last year with out any problems and think he always makes sure all on boat is checked regularly, the engine always ran clean and sounded very good under power, hopfully the rebuilder will help him.
