Promised Land
Rick, once you get on this side of Mobile Bay there are great places to spend a night on the hook. From west to east, Wolf Bay, Ingram Bayou, Pirates Cove at Roberts Bayou( reported to be home of "Cheeseburger in Paradise"), Bear Point Marina(fuel and water), Perdido Key Oyster Bar(fuel and water), Big Lagoon just west of Pensacola, Little Sabine Bayou (next to Pensacola Beach Bridge), then up Sant Rosa Sound under the Navarre bridge (50 ft max)and into the narrows. Look on your charts for buoys 69 and 69A. I have spent several nights in that deep pocket on the south side. Then up by buoy 51 there is an excelent anchorage behind the island on the south side. These last two spots get shallow as you leave the channel but then get deep as you proceed. Just be carefull and go slow. I go in them all the time with a Hunter 30 drawing 4.5 ft. There is a small muni. marina at Ft Walton just before Brooks Bridge(north side), then on under Brooks Bridge, Destin Bridge (50 ft minus) and Destin Harbor( one of my least favorite places). Welcome to cruising paradise.
