I looked up some of the other ideas stated on an other post like Diaperene, etc, but they also all had a petroleum base, which I took to mean vaseline! I thought Vaseline was non toxic or else they wouldnt use it on a babys bottom! My question is if it is non toxic for a childs bottom, would it be toxic on a boats bottom! I tried just a little spot of it on my boat and after two weeks the spot is still slick! Who might be in the know?

I guess nobody knows?

I guess to this one no one knows the answer! If it worked and was non toxic, it would be a cheap slicking for below the waterline!

I’ve slathered Vaseline on my prop’, after returning to a Ft. Lauderdale canal dock for the summer. It seemed to help prevent fouling for months. Of course, the prop’ never turned! Don’t think it’d be much use on the hull. FWIW, Gord May

Everything is toxic in some way

or another. Vaseline is ok for your babies bottom or your boats bottom. It is toxic in some way(s) to many things. So is bottom paint and so are the barnacles. Just think about all of the sun tan lotion on those who go swimming at the beach. Sun tan lotion is probably about the same toxicity as vaseline. Sunshine is a risk too. My advice is don't worry, be happy.
