Look Here

Hi Dennis, Some months ago I did a comparative test of all the smaller screen (7") radar/plotters for the UK's best selling boating magazine. The JRC was just fine and way cheaper than most others, including some of the the monochrome sets. Best of all was the Raymarine colour set with the very high resolution screen. Problem is that it is also 50% higher in price than the JRC. Look on Practical Boat Owner's web site - below - to see the sets in operation and hear my ad-lib commentary. Try to ignore the motion of the picture as the photographer forgot to turn off the auto stabilisation in his video camera so the picture moves with every wavelet. You will enjoy navigating with this set. Regards, Don Alexander.

Fruno

The JRC came out on the bottom on a Practical Sailor test. I would get a Fruno 1622, right now they're around $999.00 or wait for a boat show. JRC's are nice and cheep! I wouldn't bet my life on one. The Raydome is wired internally so if you develope a problem there you have to disconnect at the screen and pull your wiring out of whatever holes you ran it through to get it there.

JRC

We have a Furuno, good machine but friends have the JRC and it is very good for the price. We never put much stock in Practical Sailor, too subjective.
