Join two 10 ga. wires to a third

Planning to add a galvanic isolator to my dual 30 amp shore power inlets. going with a Yandina unit that can handle the two grounds from each inlet. question is how to best splice the two grounds and join them to the single inlet wire going into the isolator, and then do the same with the two grounds continuing on to the 110v panel. Other than soldering these connections, what would you recommend as the best method of splicing two 10 gauge wires to a third?

Have you considered ring terminals and a terminal strip?

I installed an isolator a couple of years ago. Used ring terminals on each cable end and connected to directly to the isolator. You should install the isolator near where the shore power enters the boat if possible.

thanks guys- I thought since I would be mounting the unit in the stern lazarette location which is subject to getting wet when I am loading things in that locker that I would be better off soldering and heat shrinking to seal it best. Thoughts?

marine ring terminals come with heat shrinkable plastic on them....
I dont always use marine terminals, but after stripping my wire, I always dip it in silicone grease before inserting it into the terminal for crimping, and then use adhesive shrink tube.... this displaces any air, and prevents moisture from getting in to the wire.

the heat shrink terminals, or adhesive shrink tubing, helps to support the wire entry into the terminal so vibration and other stress is minimized at the connection.

using non adhesive shrink tubing is no better than black tape (although it looks better), because it will still allow moisture in to the connection, and hold it there so it cant dry out.... but with the silicone/dielectric grease in the terminal, it can still last for many years, but there is no strain relief that the adhesive tubing will give..

I believe that the best way to fix this is to avoid it all together. two grounds on the two shore power inlets go to the isolator. then one ground goes to the 110 panel. You said the isolator unit can handle the two ground from the SP inlets and then later in your post ask how to combine the two wires to get to the unit?????? Assuming that was a typo.

Thanks for the response. Basically, I ran new triplex wire from the second 30 amp inlet forward to the 2 separate panels. You are right that both green wires (grounds) terminate in the same place (on the ground buss bar), so I was going to hook both of these to that buss bar. Now that you point it out, I guess I only need to continue one ground back to the ground buss bar.
