Those who've been following John's plight with water in his Fuel Tank and the position of his fuel vent hose/thru-hull; I visited my boat this weekend to install the Clam Vent and take a photo of the position of the fuel vent hose as opposed to the Fuel Hose. After speaking with John, his dealer was not even close to helpful. For Hunter owners, Dealers are an important key to your sailing enjoyment.

So how was his fuel vent hose routed?

Alan: So how was John's fuel vent hose routed? Was it like yours? What they of a vent is on the exterior(clam shell or straight thru?

Fuel Vent

John's Fuel Vent was parallel to the waterline, or pretty close to parallel. I checked my Water Fuel Separator and it only had fuel in it. I mounted the clam vent on my 33 is on the port side and was installed at 5:00 when looking at port, as instructed by Hunter Marine.

Fuel / Vent Issue - How could you see...

Alan, How did you get a veiw to be able to take a picture? I wanted to take a picture of my configuration, but could not see the deck fill or vent because the view is blocked by the aft port lazarette. I was looking thru the aft access cover alongside the aft bunk. (I also had to add the clam shell cover.) Am curious if the models that did not have the problem simply had a better routing of the vent hose - such as an upward loop? Thanks Michael

Tell me about the clam shell cover

Alan, Michael, Do you have any pictures of the clam shell cover for the fuel fill? Did you get it from Hunter Marine or is it available elsewhere?

Clam Shell Cover

John T, The installation of the clam shell cover is a recommendation from Hunter (letter dated 1/26/05), issued to H33 owners with HIN's HUN33101I304 - HUN33265L405. The letter came from the Hunter Customer Service Department. The problem is to "...reduce the chance of water entering through the external vent located on the port exterior coaming and back feeding into the fuel tank itself." I hope this answers your question.. Michael
