Joe,

Do you still have internet? Or is it a complete whiteout?

Ed K
Ahoy there, Ed!
So far, I have everything including the Internet. We lost power for an hour during the last previous storm. It took me two hours to clean both of the my driveways with my snow blower this morning. Thank God I'm retired, and I don't gotta go nowhere. :D

Ed,
I'm so freakin sick of this white stuff that I'm thinking of moving down to your neck of the woods. :cussing: My old 1971 Ariens Snow Blower just s*&t the bed on me again and I had to get out there with my shovel. All I can say is, spring better get here real quick!

It melts when it is 60*F

Joe,

It melts when it is 60*F. Maybe you need to take wife and excape for a week to get the sun to recharge you batteries? Consider a place four hours from me, Charleston, South Carolina.

In two weeks the city will be packed to capacity with this event:

http://www.sewe.com/

This event started years ago as the South Carolina Duck Stamp contest and the promoters have driven it a big arts showcase with exhibitors from all over.

It still has a southeast flavor because it is in Charleston, a port city, with many marinas with sailboats to see too.

I suspect that all the choice locations are booked at top dollar. However, I know that many rooms can be had about an hour away in Myrtle Beach or off I-95.

Come on down and pet the alligators.

Re: It melts when it is 60*F

That sounds like a nice event Ed. I could even stop in Camden and see my old boyhood hunting pal, Tommy Moody on the way down there.
I'm not too fond of alligators but I tried some gator meat at a Cajun festival and they're not bad eating.

Hi Kevin!
I'm doing great, thank you. Yes. It has been a crazy winter but I manage to keep busy doing some small woodworking and leather projects at the house.
Today is the first warm day that we've had in a long time and I'd like to take Penny across the river in the kayak and go beach combing, but I think the river is frozen where we usually cross. I just emailed a friend of mine who lives on the river in that town and asked him about this. If the river is pretty clear and he gets back to me on it, I may go today. The tide is supposed to be Low at mid day, which is ideal for walking the shoreline. The last time I was there, I cut some dead firewood for a campfire on the shore to heat up some soup brought from home.
This area on the river has a small cove which I had named "Ziggy's Cove" after my late canine pal and ship mate, Ziggy Pit bull. Penny and I spend many nights and hours on end, anchored in this cove in the summer months. There's a large marina directly across the river where singer Billy Joel keeps his 57' down easter powerboat, "Vendetta." I've heard that he also keeps a large green boat there too. Think Spring!
Regards,
Joe

Joe,

Monday it got to 62F. Tuesday a few degrees warmer. Still time to jump into car an drive to Charleston, SC for http://www.sewe.com/

60F is hard to take. You have to get out and sweep the sidewalk and driveway. Worse than shoveling snow...

Ed,
I'm lucky if I can make it to Berkley (Ma.) and back. That's an inside joke in my area. Berkley is the next town from Assonet where Rudy lives.

I just had my PC worked on last week and his billl has demolished my monthly retirement. I'm so broke I can't pay attention.

Beautiful! My parents live at Pawleys and my kids get to spend a month there every year. I'll be walking along Bay street and the Battery this Summer, but we've never spent any time at Isle of Palms. Maybe we should consider that this year. Thanks for sharing!

Those are beautiful places Ed. Unfortunately, my wife and I don't travel anymore.
