I don't want to jinx myself, but... pending survey...Neptune be praised... I will be a 1999 Hunter 310 owner. (pouring 50yr old scotch in the river as I type)
I have sold my precious 1965 Mustang Fastback, the owners have accepted my offer on the boat and am scheduling the survey for next week. I have my Oday 28 on the market and it looks like it will go. A lot of work in the Oday, and it will be a sad day when she goes, but looking forward to the long trip down the Chesapeake.
I will be looking for suggestions for the legs of the trip. No long haul, Night sailing,27 hr slug fest, like last years March trip to Cape May. Rock Hall to Nanticoke in 3 to 4 days seems do-able. Wish me luck!

I'm interested in hearing about your cape may slug fest.. as i'm about to relocate our new catalina from solomons to there.. i'm planing three days. Solomons to Annapolis, Annapolis to Chesapeake City, Chesapeake city to cape may.

Suggest you consider going to the Rhode River on Day 1, presuming you get the usual late start on the first day with a new boat. Good safe anchorage there in unpredictable spring winds. If you happen to be making better time you could continue on & go through Knapps Narrows. Once thru there, turn left & go a short distance to Dun Cove, another safe anchorage.
From the Rhode River, on day 2 you should have no trouble getting to the Little Choptank. Hudson Creek, on it's north side is a nice place to drop the hook. Pay attention to the marks at the entrance.
From Dun Cove, you would probably be better off continuing to Solomons. From either Hudson Creek or Solomons you should have no problems getting thru Hooper Strait & up the Nanticoke (weather permitting, of course).
Are you located at the Cedar Creek Marina? I spent six seasons there several years ago and it was one of my favorite marinas. Great place to break in a new boat. Best of luck with her!

Yes, I've been there 3 yrs now. Shhhhh, it's the best secluded, inexpensive place anywhere. Thats also its downfall, as the destinations are few and far for weekending.

For weekending we used to go to places like St. Jeromes Creek (western shore). Dougherty Creek (Annamessex R.), Crisfield, The Honga River & the Wicomico. We love to anchor out in wild places and it was like going back in time in that area. Of course, bug repellent was a real necessity! We always seemed to have more wind than the upper bay, too.
