I just installed jiffy reefing on my wayfarer and am happy with it - use google and type in jiffy reefing - that is where I got all of my info -- one good site is http://marina.fortunecity.com/breakwater/274/2000/0615/ Algae

I've rigged a jiffy reef on my mariner. It really makes the boat safer in rough weather. It's not too hard to do. It involves attaching some hardware(cleats, blocks) to the boom, a hook at the foot of boom & some rigging. Alum. boom is easy to drill & tap for fasteners. Try entering a search for reef in the archives & you'll find a bit to read. I designed my system after reading & looking at reef systems on other boats. There are a few different ways to do it. A topping lift is also handy if you're singlehanding.
