the previous ower of my o'day 22 had life lines put on the boat. problem is that the shape of the jib is seriously altered as it folds itself over these lines. i am considering lowering the lines going to the bow rail but am wondering what more experienced sailers had to say about this problem before i made any wrong moves. thanks bob

I think

your assumption is correct. If I recall correctly, most lifelines slope downwards after forward most stantion, and attach at the base of the bow pulpit, providing a wide 'V' slot for the foresail. Check other boats around your marina, or sail magazines to confirm this assumption.

jib troubles repsonce

thanks roger. i haven't seen any boats yet that have there forward most life lines angled down. i am a bit afraid that moving my boats' life lines will affect the looks of my boat (slipknott) but am more concerned with it's performance. i have the o'day 22, and a buddy of mine has my old o'day 19 and he beats the wind out of me when we go around narragansett bay in RI.! thanks again.
