I am wondering what the measurements are for a working jib on a Catalina 22.I recently purchased a '74 Catalina 22. The jib appears to be a genoa. Any suggestions? Thanks,Jim Winjum
22's came with what is describe as a 110% foresail. That means the sail is 110% the size of the foretriangle. A storm jib is 50%. Depending on your comfort zone a good working foresail can be anywhere from 110% to 150%. Phone your local sailmaker. He or She will be able to tell you exact measurements. The only odd thing about measuring the for triangle is that the base is measured from a point on the forestay so that a line draw at 90 degrees to the forestay hits the bottom of the mast. Got it!
A must web site for C22 owners is the C22 National Association.http://www.spiritone.com/~mack/c22/Look under racing and then Official Certificate of Measure. Print the measurement form; it has all the measurements. Also, go to the Catalina Direct link. They have lots of good info on the C22.
