I calculate that your jib has an LP of about 15.5 feet, in 2D. That means the LP is approx 119% of J, which is 13 feet per the owners manual. The sail area is approx 374 sf.

The shortest distance from the clew to the luff is called the “luff perpendicular”, aka LP. If you called the luff the base of the triangle, then the LP would be the height. If you calculate the LP as a percent of J, that’s the percent overlap of you headsail.

See https://sailingfortuitous.com/apps/jibcalc.html .

This calculator is only in 2D. If you did it with sail design software, or measured the LP on the floor of the sail loft, the numbers would be a bit different, because a sail has some 3D shape to it, and the edges aren’t actually straight. But this is pretty close, within a percent or two.

Valario depending upon the year of your hunter 41, if it has inner and outer shrouds, 110% is the largest jib you can use.

If you have a good sail maker come to your boat I know a few who have
gone some what bigger but you need the sail maker to check out your setup.
