I need to know the standard length and diameter of the jib sheets for a 1992 Hunter 33.5. (Christmas present) Thanks

Mark, I'll be on my 1992 335 this afternoon. I will check the specs to see the information you need is in there. I know one of my jib sheets is considerably longer than the other. I'm not sure why as the length on the one seems excessive. That's the way the boat was rigged when I bought her and I haven't bothered to make a change. More later. Gary Wyngarden S/V Shibumi H335

Your sheet length has to do with the size of your jib. The side that you are sheeting the sail in on has less to do with it than the weather sheet which has to be long enough to travel all the way from the sail clew up and around the mast and back to the cockpit and have enough length so you can get hold of it when you are about to tack.

Hunter 335 Jib Sheet Specs

Mark, The owners manual on my boat shows a spec on the jib sheets of 43 feet long, 7/16 inch low stretch dacron. Hope this helps. Is the present for you? Gary Wyngarden S/V Shibumi H335

Sheet length

Hi Mark, I got new sheets for my 25.5 this summer, and in doing research on the length, one rule of thumb seems to be that they should be one boatlength for a non-overlapping jib, and 1 1/2 boatlengths long for larger headsails. West Marine is one source of this guideline. I have a 110 jib, and when I first put 26ft of line on each side of mine, it seemed like too much in the cockpit, but as soon as I put out a whiskerpole downwind, the extra line came in handy. Buying them a bit too long is not a problem...you can always cut... coming up short will certainly be.
