removehtml]I need to change the Jib Halyard out. Problem is the new 3/8" halyard wont fit into the old cable halyard pulley. Do I need a new pully, or is there anyway to retrofit something? MikeError: Error: expected [/URL], but found [/removehtml] instead[/removehtml]

No.... it won't fit.
There are two sheaves in that slender space sharing the same axle, the sheave is only .28 inches wide. You're better off replacing the wire to rope halyard with another one... 40x40 1/8" wire/ 3/8" rope. Or... if you want all rope, consider a "tapered" halyard....that was my solution and I'm extremely happy with it. Here's a link to a post I made a while back describing the whole thing. Mike, Can the wire portion of the halyard be reused?
I had the same set-up on my C22. The cable portion was excellent and had an eye at its junction with the line. I simply used a bowline knot and it has worked well for 3 years. I KNOW that this lessens the strength of the line and that there are probably other knots that would be of better design, but it works well in my case and I sail alot in extreme conditions. There are kits available from Catalina Direct and maybe the Sailboat Owners chandlery that will refit your mast to the larger sheeves needed to use all line halyards and they are very nice. No more broken wire strands ripping your fingers open. Hope this helps, Ray

about "rope vs. line". I did it in jest and to invite others to read the articule in last months issue of Sailing. The articule was by Chris Caswell and was about teaching new kids (or for that fact, anyone)how to sail. It begins with his first sailing lesson and starts with his question about why so many "ropes". Thus the explanation of "a line". The article was dear to me as I teach 2 to 5 new sailors each year and truly hope they are having as much fun as I am. Their diploma is a 5 inch chunk of old wharf rope. So until we need a "Rope" to drag another poo boater back to harbour I shall leave you hanging on the "line". Ray
