Just bought a used H-240 with roller CDI jib. The jib halyard is tied off down on top of the roller take-up wheel. There is no extra halyard to allow for lowering the sail if something goes awry with the roll-up. Is that typical? In an emergency where you could not wrap the sail around the headstay would you cut the halyard above the drum and hope it would run free and allow the sail to come down? Obviously I have not been provided with owner manuals. I would think one should have a lead at the end of the halyard so one could drop the sail and then raise it again.
