I have a C 22 and need some of your expertise on the proper positioning of the Jib/Genoa car blocks on the tracks. Do they need to be placed more forward for the jib and what about different wind conditions..... look forward to your comments and suggestions.... Thanks, Bill

Forward ( I think)

I believe it was forward to pull the sail down a bit. Of course I set them 7 years age, and cannot quite remember. Regards, Ted

even break

set the blocks so the jib luff (front of sail) luffs evenly all the way up. this will require the cars to be forward when sailing off the wind (to pull the clew down, similar to the boom vang for the main). the cars will be further aft when hard on the wind. i just added a system to allow adjustment of the cars under load (while on a tack). most people set them up for a beam reach then never touch them.....that's ok too....just depends on how you value performance.

Great website FrankR, the "sail trim sim" is

excellent. Bill, easy place to start for adjusting genny fairleads is to bisect the luff with jibsheet. If you continued the line of the sheet it should hit the middle of the luff. From there you can fine tune by sail shape & telltales etc. to suit conditions.
