rick,

Why?

Seems like alot of money. Cat Direct has a little down-haul set-up that is cheap an even then, I only hook it up and use it once in a while. Most of the time I am not going out in weather extreme enough to wish I had a furler. I'm gonna same the big bucks till I am sure that I'm gonna stay w/my 22' & not upgrade.

Furler

Liz, I have the CDI furler on my Catalina 22. I love it some days and hate it others. We sail with young children and often my wife is tending them while I tend the boat. It is nice to be able to just roll-up the head sail and not leave the helm. Also, my wife likes it because when we have the kids on board, I don't have to let out all the sail (she likes the boat flat). On the down side, i think it make the mast a little harder to step and handle when down. Its heavy. Also, once I had trouble getting the sail to roll completely in-it was my fault on setting it up. I have thought about getting hanked sails but with children on board, it is really nice. Good luck. Geoff
