Jib Furling

On the furling drum I have a "u-shaped" metal piece outside the drum. This is attached to a "bungee" type cord that goes up and inside the furler. Many times when pulling the Jib open, due to centrifugal force, the "u-shaped" piece of metal pulls out on the bungee cord and gets tangled in my Furling line. It normally pushes the furling line up and it stops going in the drum and wraps around the outside of the drum. :(

This is a pain....

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

It sounds like the U shaped piece is the sail feeder. This is used when the sail is installed onto the furling foil. Once the sail is up tape it to the furler.

Thank you Jake. I had thought about taping it, but was not sure if it would cause some other issue. Thank you.
