Jib furling line location

Not sure of all the H33's have the jib furling line run to a cleat on the outside of the cockpit. Ours is right under foot when we step out of the cockpit onto the deck and if we have a few people on board, it's awkward to get at to furl / unfurl. Last block is on the stanchion fore of the opening lifelines for docking.

Anyone have theirs in a location further back closer to the helm? I was trying to figure a way to run it right back that I could reach it close to the winch for the jib sheet and use something better than a cleat?

On my H31 (06 model) it is located outside the cockpit on the starboard side about 2 feet in front of the jib wench. This is the side opposite of where crew boards, and far enough back to not interfere with movement into and out of the cockpit. I think they got it right in this model.

Allan, that makes more sense. Although mines on starboard, sometimes we use that side for boarding while out cruising or rafting. Luckily at the dock its portside.

Do you have a cleat to tie off the line or something else and the lead block on the last stanchion. I guess only other option would be to lead it forward but that would take it out of the cockpit.

Harken have a nice set of blocks that lead the line outside the stanchions and a ratchet block at the cockpit, but a cleat to tie off the line.

My 2004 33 is set up as yours. I looked through the boaats for sale and found this picture with a differnt set up

That's exactlly where my cleat is located. I like the idea of the block on the arch and then could put another cleat further back. I don''t have a spin,.... yet, so wouldn't interfere with spin sheet blocks.

Interestingly this is exactly how mine came from new!! (2004 #208)

My line goes from the last stanchion to the cleat, no block, which puts the line several inches above the deck, right where you want to step coming out of the cockpit on that side.
