I'm pretty sure there are local sailmakers in Chicago, right? We have a local loft that does repairs only. Try to find one, it's only knockin' off the hanks and adding a luff tape. You'll need to know the size of the luff tape, most are #6, but those are for larger boats. Do you know the size? The $$ you save on mailing could be applied to a local guy, encourage the local economy and give you a direct contact if anything needs to be adjusted, and a great resource for future work. I've had our local guy do bunches of work to keep my two jibs working well past their anticipated useful life.
Does your existing jib have a wire luff?
