This is the second year as a H23.5 owner and I finally got the chance to see what REAL sailing is all about. I enjoy sailing on a 350 acre in Nebraska but after seeing the sailing available in the Chicago area my lake is more pond than lake. Some of the marinas I saw were bigger then my whole lake. I am quite proud of the fact that I can get out and enjoy quiet time amongst the skiers, wake boarders, pontoons, and jet skiers. Last time out it took me about an hour and a half to tack the mile and a half to the other end of the lake in VERY light air. The attached photo illustrates my typical sailing conditions. Notice the reflection of the jib on the near flat water?Later this summer I plan on hauling Miss Lisa to a real lake where I might be able to traverse miles rather then yards without having to tack. Thanks to all for this wonderful forum. I read it EVERY DAY.
