A friend and I just recieved an ODay Javelin kind of by accident. The owner needed the trailer and being we were intrested in sailing he told us we could take the boat if he could keep the trailer. So first off we are in need of a trailer. Does anyone know how to modify a trailer to make it work for this boat? Also we flipped it and sanded down the bottom so we can paint it, we had to repaire a small hole with a fiber glass repair kit it is now sanded and ready for paint. Is it important to keep the line that is alraedy there? When we were looking at how to attach the mast it looks like we are missing a plate that attches the mast to the boat..Does anyone have an instruction book or rigging details fro this boat? Idont know what year it was made but we need a little technical help it looks like a sound little boat any help would be appreciated..Thanks..

Congrats on your new boat

Jason - That's great. Free boats don't happen often. First, check out http://www.homestead.com/javelinsailors/javelinsailors.html This is the Javelin class association home page. As far as a trailer, any brand of small trailer should do it. Make sure that the bunks are configured to support as much of the hull as possible. Since you don't have a keel, finding one should be easy. My preference is for Karavan, but there are lots out there. A note: try not to get on the boat while its on the trailer - you can damage the hull because the weight is not distributed evenly as though its in the water. As far as the bottom paint - are you going to be leaving the boat in the water? If so, bottom paint is important, if not you may be able to avoid it. The line should correspond to the waterline when the boat is sitting on the mooring. I would keep it. When you launch, see if its too high or too low and fix it next year. As far as the mast plate, try Rudy Nickerson D&R Marine, Inc. 14 Water St. P.O. Box 921 Assonet, MA 02702 Telephone (508) 664-3001 Fax (508) 644-3002 Justin - O'day Owners' Web

rigging details

Jason I might be able to get my hands on an owner's manual for the boat. Are you still in need?
