I am restoring a mid 70's Javelin. I am guessing at the age based on the hull color. It is a harvest gold not unlike a kitchen appliance from the 70's. May I ask a favor of anyone who may own a similar boat? I need to know exctly how the mast step should be situated. I see that the mast should extend down through the plywood floor under the foredeck. It is my understanding from the prior owner that the cast aluminum step did not attach directly to the c/b trunk. If anyone has a boat unstepped at this point I would greatly appreciate a description of your observations and some measurements. 1. From the top of the wood flooring to the very top of the cast step. 2. From the top of the c/b trunck to the very bottom of the step. 3. From the bulk head forward to the aft end of the step. Thank you, Thank you, thank you. JBB

mast step

the mast step is cast alum. and attached to the keel with one or two screws, and the mast base sets over it, there should be an obvious spot on the keel where the mast set, but could have been bonded to the keel, which will also be obvious.
