Javelin questions

I had a Daysailer One, no liner. I liked the comfort and leg room for such a small boat.

I noticed a few differences in the Javelins, similar to the DS1 vs DS2.

I'm guessing the Javelin with the liner has less leg room? Also, the older Javelin has a winch type system on for the centerboard.

Any info on good or bad years, or... problems with different set ups?

TIA,

John

John, I don't know of any plusses/minuses between the older and newer Javelins, Most would be virtually equal to the DS I vs DS II comparisons. The deck change on the Javelin occurred in 1971, same as DS change to DS II (and Change to Widgeon from all open to molded cockpit). !962-70 models of the Javelin have the open (non-self-bailing) design, 1971-85 (1986?) Javelins have the molded cockpit. Theoretically "self-Bailing" on newer boats is nice, as is lockable stowage under the forward deck. Totally open with deck over bow area (forward of Mast) is nice for extra room and near total access to the inside of the hull and underside of deck is nice on older boats.
It all comes down to personal preference, or just which version catches your eye more?
