I just picked up a '78 Javelin in pretty good overall condition. Can anyone give me a source for replacing the 2 piece teak splash rail at the front of the cockpit, just ahead of the mast step? That's the only wood that's too far gone to respond to refinishing. The tiller MAY need to be replaced, so a source for one of those would be helpful, too. I also need one of those 14-28x1/2" truss head screws that hold the cam cleat blocks in place. I have a hex head in as a temporary, but would like to get the right bolt. Source??? My boat came with the wooden floorboards for the cockpit sole, but with a nylon bolt screwed in place of the (missing) cockpit bailer. I know that D&R has the bailer. Does it work well enough to warrant having? I may have to trim the floorboard underside to clear it. I will be closing off (using tape, for now) the holes for the centerboard fixing pin in the sides of the trunk, as I've heard that this is a point for water entry, and I have a board across the frame of the trailer to catch the board if it gets loose. Other questions: 1. I have two additional "chainplates" on each gunnel, one fore and one aft of the one obviously intended for the shrouds. These other chaniplates have MUCH larger holes in them than the one for the shrouds. What are they for? 2. There is about a 1" round hole in the forward end of each seat, and another in the starboard side of the centerboard trunk, just about under the winch drum. This hole does not appear to open into the exposed area of the centerboard slot. What is the purpose of these holes, and should I get rubber plugs for them? If so, a source for the plugs would be nice. I'll be doing (or having done, professionally) a little glass work on top of the cuddy, around the hole where the mast stub and step go through. This seems to be a common thing on these boats, as I've seen the need for it on both Javelins and Day Sailers. So far, I've just rigged the boat on the trailer (EASIEST boat I've owned to step the mast!). Hopefully, she will see the water once more either this weekend or next, depending on how fast the glass work goes. Thanks in advance for any info! I've gone through D&R's website, and have not located any of the items I'm seeking. Bob

your boat

sorry to be the one to tell ya, but your boat is pre '70, the new mod does not have the wood on the fore deck and a molded hull liner, the older mod had no liner and floor boards, to get under the foredeck you reach thru a small about 14x14 hatch, and there are no holes in the seat unless done by past owner.
