Well, we took "Java" out for it's first sail today. Out on the Cheaspeake Bay winds were 17 gusting 23kts, WOW. Need to stop doing things like this. First, It took about an hour to place the h260 in the water mostly from doing stupid things and it took an hour to get ready to tow again. Hopefully this time will decease as we get acustomed to the boat. Found a few problems that will be discussed with "Crazy Dave" when he gets back from vacation. I did not try the "teflon" pads for the bunks this trip, wanted to see how much fun it was cranking the boat on. NOT FUN.. I'm going to order some more, to have better coverage on the bunks before trying it. Will let everyone know how it does or not - works. My wife Joan, really liked the butane stove. She cooked up some soup and made coffee, while anchored - Life is a bitch..... Java seem to handle the winds ok, though being high out of the water seemed to provide some interesting moments. We were sailing on Jib alone and making 5kts. Couldn't imagine what kind of ride we would had if we put up the main - REEFED of course... One thing, has anyone added "cleats" to the lower part of the mast to handle the "jib", "main" downhaul lines when mast is not UP. Today we were trying to figure out what to do with the lines, they would go slack and generally get in the way. Enough for Now - Really Enjoyed ourselves.. Jim & Joan s/v Java

Leave the halyards riggend in the stops...

Hi, Congratulations on your maiden voyage! Regarding the halyards, you can leave them rigged with the mast down. I attached the snap shackles to the mast raising pole pin at the base of the mast and leave the tails through the blocks and line brakes/stops. I tend to use the main alone without jib for heavier winds, reef early and often. The boat sails better on her feet and tacking is easy and visibility forward is unobstructed. Fair winds... Tom
