Greeting All,
Well after a 3200nm trip down east coast and to the Bahamas and back, we are tired. We visited the Abacos, Eleuthera and Exumas. Must say we had a BLAST, visited with more sailors and locals that will keep me going until the next time.
Things added to make this trip more enjoyable?
SolarStik, http://www.solarstik.com panels and wind generator. We do have a Honda 2000i that was only started 4 times for the entire trip, twice to make hot water for showers...
New fiberglass propane tanks http://www.ayesail.net/sailing/SailboatMods/H356Mods/propanetanks.pdf purchased here on HOW. We only went through one tank the whole time in the Bahamas. Wow...
New refrigeration, Fridogoat, http://www.frigoboat.com/home.html which worked almost to well. I drew about 4-5amps while running 20 minutes of every hour... which was manageable. Solarstik keep up with it...
Java handled the seas very well, well most of the time...When you are about 14nm from leaving the bank headed to Florida and the waves are already at 6ft every 6secs, you need to really think about continuing on into the Gulf Stream.. We turned around and waited for 24 hours..
I also learned how much fun it is to change your Racor primary fuel filter in the middle of the Gulf Stream at 3 in the morning....BARF..
More to follow...
