My decktop hard rubber stopper threaded waste holding tank access port is frozen or jammed and I have been trying to open it up using the key but to no avail. Any tricks or approach to get the thing out??
I found I had to just remove the whole thing and buy a new one. I tried pretty much everything but couldn't get it to budge. I managed to find a replacement with the exact locations of screw holes. The new one has a stainless cap - i'm hoping that means that it won't freeze like the old plastic one. If it does I could use anti-freeze solution on it.
stainless ones want to weld themselves in also. Keep threads lubed & cleaned, my current cap protudes enough so I can get a big ass pipe wrench on it in a pinch. Easiest ones are those that accept a winch handle as a wrench, I've bent or broken most models of wrenchs (or keys) that are supposed to fit the slot or pins.
Thanks for the great advice and moral support. I was thinking of the stainless alternative but will search for a winch handle access at a minimum. Love the boat it is murphy that always has to interfere.Sail well in Southern Cal.
